INGREDIENTS
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 2 Tbsp flour
- 2 1/2 cups pitted sour red cherries
- 1 cup flour
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- few grains of salt
- 3 Tbsp shortening
- 1/3 cup milk
METHOD
- Mix sugar, 2 Tbsp flour and cherries.
- Place in greased pan 8” x 8” x 2”.
- Sift together 1 cup flour, baking powder and salt.
- Cut in shortening with pastry blender.
- Add milk to make soft dough.
- Roll out on lightly floured board to 8” x 8”.
- Place over cherries.
- Score dough in squares.
- Bake in 400 deg. oven for 30 minutes.
Serve hot.
