Rhubarb Chutney

From "Our Favourite Recipes" circa 1940s.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 quart rhubarb
  • 1 quart chopped onions
  • 1 pint vinegar
  • 1 tsp each of ginger, cloves, cinnamon, and allspice
  • 1 1/2 lb brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp pickling salt
  • 1 pint water
  • 1/4 tsp paprika
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric 

METHOD

  1. Boil all ingredients together slowly for 1 hour. Seal while hot in sterile jars. Store in a dark place.
