From "Our Favourite Recipes" circa 1940s.
INGREDIENTS
- 1 quart rhubarb
- 1 quart chopped onions
- 1 pint vinegar
- 1 tsp each of ginger, cloves, cinnamon, and allspice
- 1 1/2 lb brown sugar
- 1 Tbsp pickling salt
- 1 pint water
- 1/4 tsp paprika
- 1/4 tsp turmeric
METHOD
- Boil all ingredients together slowly for 1 hour. Seal while hot in sterile jars. Store in a dark place.
